HIRED-PhD started in the summer of 2016 as the brain child of Rachel Harris, a Ph.D. candidate and soon-to-be unemployed person at Northwestern University. Facing an imminent job hunt, she sought inspiration from others who had gone before her – only to realize that the placement information she wanted didn’t exist at the department or university level.
The one place that did have valuable information, however, was her lab’s web page – and an idea was germinated.
HIRED-PhD takes data scraped from research group websites and aggregates it into big-picture information about post-grad school job placement, broken down by PI. If you’re at all curious about your employment prospects after grad school, or trying to pick a department or lab based on your career ambitions, look no further! HIRED-PhD is here to help.
